Day 1 Mumbai Arrival

Your arrival is scheduled at the Mumbai Airport, where a Vacations & Journeys representative will meet you and guide you to the pre booked hotel. Check in after reaching the hotel and take rest and spend the remaining time in relaxing.

Day 2 Mumbai sightseeing

Post breakfast you will enjoy the City Tour of Mumbai. Visit the Gateway of India and from there leave for the Elephanta Caves visit, here is a tri-faced idol of Lord Shiva that is the most photographed among other old stone and rock sculptures that are centuries old. Then you will visit the Prince of Whales Museum, Nehru Science Centre, Jain Temples, the World Heritage Site Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and the Nariman Point. At night you can enjoy visiting and tasting appetizing cuisines in the famous lounges and restaurants of Mumbai. Then return and relax at the hotel.

Day 3 Travel from Mumbai to Lonavala (83 kms)

Lonavala is a hill station situated at a distance of about 83 kilometers from Mumbai. Driving through the Mumbai-Pune Expressway which is surrounded by greenery you will reach here. In Lonavala you will visit the Lohagarh Fort, where you will see the Pahwa Lake and the Visapur Fort situated in the complex, Visit the Duke’s Nose and also watch the Tiger’s Leap which is a point which looks like a leaping Tiger’s position then you will visit the Karla cave which was built during the 80th century and has representations of Buddha and there is a whole corridor of long pillars and carved elephants with real ivory tusks attached to them. Bhaja Caves are also the Buddhist caves which were built in 200 BC; there are 18 caves and 14 Stupas which are built from a single rock. Stay in Lonavala.

Day 4 Travel from Lonavala to Khandala (20 kms)

On day 4 of your Best of Maharashtra Tour you will have a drive to Khandala after breakfast. Khandala is known for the astonishing views of the Sahayadri Hills, valleys and forests. In Khandala you will visit the Bhusi Dam. It is a Masonry dam and was developed by the Indian Railways as a tourist spot in the year 2014. After sightseeing Khandala return back to Lonavala and take rest in the hotel.

Day 5 Travel from Lonavala to Matheran (283 kms)

After breakfast you will drive to Matheran, a small hill station which is known for its amazing view points. In Matheran you will see the Charlotte Lake which is a prominent spot for sightseeing here and it also supplies drinking water to the area, then visit the Alexander point from where enticing views of numerous places like the Ulhas River, Chowk Point, Garbut Point, Towers of Bhivpuri Power House, Rambaug Point, etc are visible with clarity. The other places to see in Matheran are the Louisa Point, Echo Point, Panorama Point, One Tree Hill, Monkey Point, etc.

Day 6 Travel from Matheran to Nasik (183 kms)

The sixth day of the tour and you will head towards the next destination Nasik. Nasik is a pilgrimage spot and is surrounded by dense forests. In Nasik you will visit the Bhimashankar Temple, which is surrounded by dense forests and is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, then visit the Trimbakeshwar Temple of Lord Shiva which is one among the 12 Jyotirlings, Grishneshwar is another beautiful temple in Nasik which is worth a visit. Then you will see the wide spread and captivating Vineyards of Nasik. Spend the night in Nasik.

Day 7 Travel from Nasik to Shirdi (85 kms)

You will be going to another pilgrim paradise today that is Shirdi. This place is visited by hundreds and thousands of tourists around the year because of the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple. It used to be a small village which was the residence of Sai Baba who was a holy man and is now worshipped as God. He taught the people that there is only one god. In the morning visit the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple which was constructed in 1922 and you can also enjoy the Prasadam which is prepared in a large scale high-tech kitchen which has also been featured in the Mega Kitchen Series of National Geographic Channel. Near Shirdi is the Shani Shignapur village, visit this place which is famed for the Lord Shani Temple and the Shignapur Village, where there are no doors in the houses only door frames are present and the crime rate of this area is zero. You will be spending the night in the hotel in Shirdi.

Day 8 Travel from Shirdi to Aurangabad (108 kms)

After breakfast, you will be taken to Aurangabad, the next destination of Best of Maharashtra Tour. It is a city in Maharashtra which has been named after the last Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. On reaching the hotel in Aurangabad, you will be given some time to relax and refresh. Then visit the Bibi Ka Maqbara, the mausoleum of Aurangzeb’s wife Dilras Banu Begum. It is a replica of the Taj Mahal and is built with almost all the details that are in Taj Mahal. Then visit Panchakki, a monument which was built around 1695 AD to use a spring of water for generating energy to move the large grinding stones of the mill. The idea was drawn from the mill that was used for grinding grains for the pilgrims of the Baba Shah Musfir’s Tomb situated close to the Panchakki.

Day 9 Aurangabad to Ellora Caves visit

In the morning after you have had breakfast you will be taken to the Ellora Caves situated 29 kms from Aurangabad. The Ellora caves were built by the Rashtrakuta dynasty Kings and it is a World Heritage Site. The Ellora caves are a group of caves having Hindu, Buddhist and the Jain structures and Temples and definitely show the harmony among the three religions which were present in around the 5th to 10th century. ‘Elapura’ is the ancient name of these caves as found from the relics of the manuscripts and it is a preserved site under the Archeological Survey of India. Return to Aurangabad.

Day 10 Aurangabad to Ajanta Caves visit

Ajanta Caves are situated at a distance of 30 kms from Aurangabad and is a sister monument of the Ellora caves. The Ajanta caves are visited for the rock cut sculptures which were made of 30 rocks in the area. The Ajanta Caves complex has Buddhist cathedrals and monasteries and the statues of the Lord Buddha preaching. It has been declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Return to the hotel in Aurangabad and stay for the night.

Day 11  Departure

Marking the end of the Best of Maharashtra Tour, on this day you will be transferred to Mumbai from Aurangabad. Then you can board the flight for onwards journey from Mumbai Airport.
