Day 1Delhi arrival

You will reach Delhi in the beginning of this tour. You will be received and welcomed by our representative on the airport and he will take you to the reserved hotel in Delhi. If you arrive in Delhi in the morning or afternoon, then after you have had some rest, in the evening you will be taken to visit some tourist places in Delhi. The places you will visit are the India Gate, Chandni Chowk and Gurudwara Bangla Sahib.

Day 2 Travel from Delhi to Agra (231 kms)

Relish an appealing breakfast in the morning and leave for Agra. Agra is a famous Tourist destination in India due to the presence of the Taj Mahal which is a grand symbol of love. It took 20 years to build this marvelous monument and now it stands tall representing India to the World. One of the most beautiful manmade monuments the Taj Mahal is a pure example of Mughal Architecture and was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. You will be visiting the Taj Mahal when you reach Agra followed by visit to the Itmad-ud-Daulah. In the evening you will visit the Mehtab Bagh to have a mesmerizing view of the Taj Mahal, which looks heart stirring during the sunset. Night stay at the hotel in Agra.

Day 3 Travel from Agra to Fatehpur Sikri (37 kms)

Wake up early in the morning and get set to watch the Taj Mahal in the morning. It looks heavenly in the rays of the rising sun. Then you will return to have breakfast and then leave for a visit to Fatehpur Sikri. After a short drive you will reach Fatehpur Sikri, it is a city which was established by the Mughal Emperor Akbar and was his second capital. There are several monuments to see in this fort which is a World Heritage Site as declared by UNESCO. The Fatehpur Sikri fort has Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas, the Buland Darwaza, Jama Mosque, Birbal’s House, Naubat Khana, Panch Mahal, Salim Chishti’s Tomb, etc. After the visit return back to Agra and after dinner retire for resting at night in the hotel.

Day 4 Travel from Agra to Varanasi (605 kms)

In the morning after breakfast you will be taken to visit the Agra Fort. A World Heritage Site the Agra Fort had was the residence of the Mughals for years. There are several archaic monuments inside the Agra Fort which were built by Akbar and some additions were made by Shah Jahan who added white marble buildings. In Agra Fort do not miss watching the following monuments- the Pearl Mosque, Nagina Mosque, Aaramgah, Meena Bazar, Mariyam-uz-Zamani’s Palace, Akbar Palace, Shah Jahani Mahal, Jahangiri Mahal, Zenana Mahal, Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas, etc. When you are done with visiting the Fort, return back to the hotel and leave to the Airport to board the flight to Varanasi after lunch. You will reach Varanasi where you will attend the evening Ganga Aarti at the Dashashwamedh Ghat.

Day 5 Varanasi to Sarnath sightseeing (12 kms)

Enjoy a tempting breakfast in the morning and leave for the visit to Sarnath. In Sarnath you will see the following places- the Dhamek Stupa which is believed to have the remains of Gautam Budhha, and was built in 249 BCE by the Mauryan King Ashoka which was restored in 500 BCE. Then visit the Chaukhandi Stupa, which is an octagonal structure that was first built during the Mauryan period and later converted into the present octagonal structure to commemorate the welcome of Mughal Emperor Humayun by Prince Govardhan at Sarnath. Also visit the Sarnath Museum to see the collections of the items found during the excavations at these sites. In the evening return to Varanasi and retire for the night.

Day 6 Travel from Varanasi to Bodh Gaya (255 kms)

On this day, move to the next destination of the India Buddhist Tour that is Bodh Gaya. This is the site where Lord Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment under what is now famous as the ‘Bodhi Tree’. In Bodh Gaya you will visit the famous Mahabodhi Temple which is the Mecca of the Buddhists. The Mahabodhi Temple was built by Mauryan King Ashoka and later this site was excavated by Archeologists. The temple complex has the Bodhi Tree and the Vajrasana which is the diamond crown. The Mahabodhi temple complex is a World Heritage Site. Your stay at the night is scheduled in Bodh Gaya.

Day 7 Travel from Bodh Gaya to Rajgir to Nalanda to Patna (70 kms-14 kms-90 kms)

Leave for Patna the capital of Bihar from Bodh Gaya today after breakfast. On the way to Patna visit Rajgir. Rajgir is both a Buddh and a Jain pilgrimage site. Here is the famous Venuvana Monastery and the Vishwa Shanti Stupa which is one of the 80 Peace Pagodas situated in the world. Then shortly after Rajgir you will reach Nalanda where you will see the ruins of the Nalanda University which is the most ancient university of India. Built in 450 CE under the patronage of the Gupta Kings, it was attacked thrice and the third and the final attack was by Muslim invader Bakhtiyar Khilji in 1193. After exploring Nalanda continue the drive to reach Patna. Relax and retire for the night in Patna.

Day 8 Travel from Patna to Vaishali to Kushinagar (66 kms-177 kms)

On this day of the India Buddhist Tour, proceed to Kushinagar, the Parinirvana site of Gautam Buddh. On the way to Kushinagar make a halt in Vaishali situated shortly after Patna. Vaishali is an important site for Buddhism tour where you will see the Ashokan Pillar, Pushkarni and Vishwa Shanti Stupa, then continue the drive to reach Kushinagar. In Kushinagar you will see the Parinirvana stupa where lies a 6.1 meters long idol of Lord Buddha in reclining position. The Nirvana Chaitya is the main Stupa where the soul of Lord Buddha left his body. Ramabhar is another attraction in Kushinagar where the body of Lord Buddha was cremated and the ashes were divided to be buried under different Stupas.

Day 9 Travel from Kushinagar  to Lumbini to Shravasti (168 kms-226 kms)

Take leave from the hotel in Kushinagar and drive to Shravasti. On the Way to Shravasti stop by Lumbini that is on the Nepal and Uttar Pradesh Border. Lumbini is the birth place of Lord Buddha and is a World Heritage Site. Lumbini is the world’s earliest Buddhist shrine and recent archeological surveys have confirmed the presence of the civilization where Gautam Buddha was born to the Shakya King Suddhodana and his Queen Mayadevi. Visit the Mayadevi Temple in Lumbini and then move to reach Shravasti. Check in and stay at the hotel in Shravasti.

Day 10 Travel from Shravasti to Sahet Mahet to Gonda (1 kms-66 kms)

In the morning pay a visit to Sahet Mahet the actual site of ancient city of Shravasti which is located on the Shravasti and Bahreich border in the Uttar Pradesh state. Shravasti was one of the major cities of the ancient times and prospered under the rule of King Prasenjeet and now it has a remarkable place among the Buddh Pilgrims. Shravasti is the place where Lord Buddha spent 24 monsoons of his life in the Jetavana Monastery which was donated to him. Presently while visiting at this place you will find the remains of six temples, two monasteries and five Stupas. In the evening transfer to Gonda.

Day 11 Departure

This is the last day of the India Buddhist Tour in which you have covered all the important sites related to Lord Buddha. On this day you will reach Lucknow from Gonda and from there directly to Delhi Airport from where you will board flight back to home, thus marking the end of the Tour.
