Rajasthan Desert Tour 15 Days 14 Nights

Day 1    Delhi arrival

Your arrival will be in Delhi on the Airport where you will be received by our representative who will bring you to the pre-reserved hotel where you have to check in. Then you can take rest and if time allows, explore Delhi according to your interests.

Day 2    Travel from Delhi to Mandawa (232 kms)

On the second day you will be transferred to the first destination of the Rajasthan Desert Tour. The destination is Mandawa where in you will check into the hotel and relax for a while. Then you can enjoy elephant and camel rides around the periphery of this desert town. Mandawa is known for the explicit Havelis or castles which were built by the wealthy businessmen of the town in the earlier times. There are numerous Havelis in Mandawa like Hanuman Prasad Goenka Haveli, Saraf Haveli, Ladia’s Haveli, Jhunjhunwala’s Haveli, Mandawa Haveli, etc. You will enjoy a relaxing stay at the heritage hotel in Mandawa.

Day 3    Travel from Mandawa to Bikaner (192 kms)

Wake up early in the morning to explore Mandawa. You will be taken to Mandawa Fort, the fort has a remarkable collection of paintings, murals and mirror works. The decorations of Fort of Mandawa are inspired from the Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace) inside the Amber Fort. After exploring the Fort and Havelis of Mandawa you will proceed towards Bikaner.

Day 4    Bikaner sightseeing

Enjoy the morning in Bikaner; the city is situated on the periphery of the Thar Desert of Rajasthan. The name Bikaner has been derived from the founder of the city Rao Bikaji who was the son of Maharaja Rao Jodha. Bikaner has historical places which attracts the lovers of history and arts. Here you will be visiting the amazing Laxmi Nivas Palace, the Junagarh Fort (also called Chintamani Fort) and the Gajner Palace. All these majestic monuments in Bikaner are great examples of brilliant craftsmanship. Junagarh Fort is the oldest fort in Bikaner and it was built by Raja Rai Singh, into a spectacular combination of balconies, pavilions, courtyards, latticed and arched windows which makes it a must visit in Bikaner.

Day 5    Travel from Bikaner to Jaisalmer (331 kms)

After breakfast in the morning you will be travelling to Jaisalmer, the Desert City of Rajasthan. Jaisalmer is the largest district due to the fact that its area surrounds almost the whole Thar Desert. Founded by Maharawal Jaisal Singh, the city is crowned by the long stretched Jaisalmer Fort also called the Sonar Quila. If you love travelling in a desert this place is going to be a total bliss for you. Check in on reaching and relax in the hotel in Jaisalmer. You will be taken for an evening safari in the surrounding areas and will also be entertained with the music and dance performances by the local performers in the middle of the desert.

Day 6    Jaisalmer sightseeing

Begin the day early after breakfast as the ‘Golden City’ has so much to offer the wanderer in you. First you will be visiting the stunning Jaisalmer Fort; built with yellow sandstone the fort looks golden in sunlight due to which it has imparted the name of ‘Golden Fort’ it is also a World Heritage Site. Visit the several marvelous palaces inside the fort complex, then you will be visiting is the Salim ji’s Haveli. The monument is a castle belonging to a wealthy family known with the name of Mehtas. The roof of the Haveli is shaped like a peacock and is tiered, with 38 balconies the Haveli’s front looks like a ship.

Later get ready to visit the Bada Bagh which is situated at a 6 kms distance from Jaisalmer, the Bada Bagh is a historic monument having several cenotaphs belonging to the Maharajas of Jaisalmer surrounded by beautiful gardens; the works and designs on the cenotaphs are remarkable feature of this place. Enjoy camel ride in the sand dunes of the desert and get entertained by the performance of local performers.

Day 7    Travel from Jaisalmer to Khichan (172 kms)

On the seventh day, drive to Khichan Village, a small village in the Jodhpur known for the Khichan Bird Sanctuary. It is unbelievable to see many species of migratory birds living in the village which is situated in a desert village. The Demoiselle Cranes are the second most abundant species of cranes after the Mongolian cranes here and there is a good population of black cranes also in the sanctuary. Finding a healthy population of migratory birds in a desert village is something amazing to watch and experience. Conserving the heritage of desert you will be staying in an amazing heritage resort in Khichan.
 
Day 8    Travel from Khichan to Khimsar (120 kms)


From Khichan proceed to Khimsar after breakfast. Khimsar is a small village in Nagaur district of Rajasthan. It is known for the Khimsar Fort which is an oasis in the desert and is a true bliss for the tourists. Constructed during the 16th century by Rao Karamsji, the Khimsar Fort is situated in Khimsar Village located in the dry and desert areas of Rajasthan but you will be truly mesmerized by the view of the lush green gardens spread in acres of land around the fort which has the scars of several battles but has been so well maintained.

Staying in the Fort Hotel in Khimsar with gardens and pool and enjoying camel rides watching the beautiful eco-friendly hut houses of the locals in Khimsar is an amazing experience. Enjoy a comfortable stay in the hotel at night.

Day 9    Travel from Khimsar to Pushkar (171 kms)

Spend the morning in leisure enjoying a classy breakfast in Khimsar and head towards Pushkar. The famous tourist town of Rajasthan, Pushkar is a pilgrimage site of the Hindus of India. It is visited by large number of Pilgrims as well as tourists during the Annual Camel Fair. The fair is the Largest Cattle Fair held in the country and attracts large number of tourists. Visit the famous Brahma Temple in Pushkar which is the core of the city that is believed to be founded by Lord Brahma. Then visit the Savitri temple and in the evening enjoy listening and watching the Aarti in the Brahmaji Temple, the prayers are offered to Lord Brahma and the Pushkar Lake during this Aarti and the whole ritual makes one feel spiritual from inside.

Day 10    Travel from Pushkar to Bhandrej (218 kms)

Early in the morning enjoy a boat ride in the Pushkar Lake which has over 50 manmade banks, then return to the hotel, have breakfast and leave Pushkar for Bhandrej. A small village in the Dausa district of Rajasthan, this desert village is a popular name due to the famous terracotta vessels, fine carpets, pottery items and lattice works done by the locals. The products build here are in demand worldwide and here  you can take elephants, camel or Jeep rides in the village and get to know more about the life and culture of the people of the village. You will also see several beautiful lattice worked windows in the houses of the locals.

The tourist attraction in Bhandrej is the Bada Baoli which is a five storied step well which was built by the Kumbha Rajputs. Also the Bhadrawati Palace is a tourist attraction which now has been converted into a heritage hotel, has a stunning blend of Mughal and Rajput architecture with attractive windows, courtyards and verandahs.

Day 11    Travel from Bhandrej to Bharatpur (121 kms)

Leave for Bharatpur from Bhandrej and on reaching Bharatpur you will be taken for some bird watching in the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary now known as the Keoldev National Park here you will be able to spot many colorful and beautiful species of birds flying around freely along with several species of mammals and other animals. The population of these migratory birds’ increases during the months of July to February, as it is the most suitable time for their breeding. Enjoy safari in the sanctuary and spend the night in the hotel.

Day 12    Travel from Bharatpur to Fatehpur Sikri to Agra (25 kms-37kms)

In the morning you can enjoy some more of bird watching safari in the national park, and then commence your journey towards Agra, the City of the Taj Mahal. After a short drive from Bharatpur you will reach Fatehpur Sikri. The town was known as Vijaypur Sikri thousand years ago but was later captured by the Mughals and they renamed it to Fatehpur Sikri. Founded by Mughal Emperor Akbar, who converted the Badalgarh Fort into the Fatehpur Sikri Fort, it is now a World Heritage Site, this town was the capital of the Mughals for two decades who left their marks on the land of this town in the form of various impressive monuments which are frequently visited by the history enthusiasts. After the excursion of Fatehpur Sikri, continue the drive to reach Agra and check in the hotel.

Day 13    Agra sightseeing

Relish an appetizing breakfast in the morning and begin the excursion of Agra. Here you will visit the World Heriatge Site of Agra Fort which has several attractions for the tourists inside the grand complex. Agra is a famous Tourist destination in India due to the presence of the Taj Mahal which is a grand symbol of love. It took 20 years to build this marvelous monument and now it stands tall representing India to the World. One of the most beautiful manmade monuments, the Taj Mahal is a pure example of Mughal Architecture and was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. You will be visiting the Taj Mahal followed by visit to the Itmad-ud-Daulah. In the evening you will visit the Mehtab Bagh to have a mesmerizing view of the Taj Mahal, which looks heart stirring during the sunset. Night stay at the hotel in Agra.

Day 14    Travel from Agra to Delhi (231 kms)

Early in the morning visit the Taj Mahal to watch it reflect the colors of the rising sun and look even more beautiful. Save these amazing experiences in your memory. On this day you will be transferred to Delhi where you will be exploring the capital with the help of our representative. Overnight in Delhi.

Day 15    Departure

The Rajasthan Desert Tour comes to an end on this day and Vacations & Journeys will transfer you to the Airport on time and will assist you with the easy boarding of the flight for onwards journey.
