Day 1Mumbai arrival

With your arrival in the Economic Capital of India, our representative will welcome and greet you on the airport and will escort you to the hotel in Mumbai. On reaching at the hotel, just check in and spend the rest of the time in relaxing. At night if you are interested you may explore the nightlife in the city that never sleeps.

Day 2 Mumbai sightseeing

Wish you an energetic morning to begin the Best of South India Tour today where you will be exploring the city of Mumbai. Mumbai is actually a group of islands which makes a big complex to form this city; it is the largest city in India. In Mumbai you will have a tour to the Gateway of India in front of which is the Taj Mahal Hotel one of the most luxurious in India, both are a gift to Mumbai from the colonial times. Then you will be taken for a visit to the Prince of Whales Museum, now known with the name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vaastu Sangrahalay where you will find a huge collection of the paintings, sculptures, miniature paintings from the North, remnants from the ‘Gupta’ and the ‘Maurya’ period and much more. In the evening you may visit the Rajabhai Clock Tower then the Nariman Point. There are a number of other attractions in Mumbai to choose from. Your night stay will be in Mumbai.

Day 3 Travel from Mumbai to Kochi (1539 kms)

Today, Savor breakfast in the morning and board the flight to Kochi. On reaching Kochi you will be welcomed and transferred to the hotel by our representative. The rest of the day is yours to spend.

Day 4 Kochi sightseeing

Kochi is the commercial capital of Kerala. It was the first headquarter of the Portuguese when they arrived and made alliances in India. In the morning you will be taken to visit the Fort of Kochi where St. Francis Church is located which is dedicated to Santo Antonio who was a Portuguese catholic priest. In Cochin or Kochi you will see the Mattancherry Palace which was built by the Portuguese as a gift to the then Raja of Kochi in 1557, then visit the Jewish Synagogue adjacent to the palace which was built in the area that was called the Jew Town. In the evening you will witness the beauty of the Chinese fishnets which are used for fishing on the mouth of the harbor by the local fishermen. Enjoy a relaxing night in Kochi.

Day 5 Travel from Kochi to Munnar (130 kms)

On this day you will be travelling to Munnar from Kochi. Munnar is a hill station in Kerala located at an elevation of 1600 meters from the sea level. Known for the abundance of vegetation and herbage this is one of the most visited places in Kerala. Relax after checking in the hotel or resort in Munnar.

Day 6 Munnar sightseeing

After enjoying breakfast get set for the tour of Munnar to revitalize your mind and soul. You can also visit the vantage viewpoint like the Pothamedu View Point and Echo Point in Munnar. The another thing not to miss in Munnar is a walk by the Tea Estates, the hills in Munnar are covered with tea vegetation and walking in these green cultivated areas feels very refreshing. Another thing you can do here is visit the Anaimudy peak, it receives a high footfall when the Neelakurinji, a special flower which blooms once in 12 years blooms here and cover the whole peak. It looks like the peak has been covered by a blue velvet sheet, and the view is awesome.

Day 7 Travel from Munnar to Periyar (97 kms)

From Munnar you will be proceeding towards Periyar on this day. Periyar is known for the rice cultivation and the Periyar National Park. This town of Kerala has a large diversity of animals and plants. Check in to the resort or the hotel as soon as you reach Periyar. Then you may enjoy walking by the local markets and visiting the cultivated lands in Periyar.

Day 8 Periyar National Park visit

Wake up early in the morning after a cozy night’s sleep. The Periyar National Park visit is in the itinerary today. You will be transferred to the entrance of the national park by us. Then you may choose whether you would like to have Bamboo Rafting, a jeep safari or a trek in the Periyar National Park. Spread in the sprawling forest with a 925 kilometer square stretch, it is a habitat to species like monitor lizards, Indian chameleons, lion-tailed macaques, elephants, Nilgiri langoors, wild boars, sambhars, etc and the most majestic of them all are the Indian tigers. Periyar is also a riger Reserve and is a home to more than 40 tigers. After enjoying the amazing wildlife of Kerala return to the hotel and relax.

Day 9 Travel from Periyar to Kumarakom (113 kms)

After relishing your breakfast, proceed to the next destination of the tour. Kumarakom is famous for its backwaters and Rice Barges. You will have a pleasant stay in a Rice Barge. The rice barge is actually a Houseboat called Kettuvallam in the local language, but in the earlier days they were used for transportation of the harvested crops like rice which gave them the name of Rice Barges. In the evening enjoy the views of the natural landscapes of Kerala alongside the backwaters, Kumarakom is also famous for Ayurveda tour, hence, you can catch up with an Ayurveda specialist and experience a relaxing Ayurveda treatment on your body.

Day 10 Travel from Kumarakom to Alleppey (33 kms)

From Kumarakom you will travel to ‘Venice of the East’, Alleppey or Alappuzha. Alleppey is known for the stretch of Vembanad Lake and the Backwaters. The backwater canals inside the city offer the views of the common folks of Alleppey who can be seen busy with their regular chores. Also anchor to explore the boat yard in Alleppey and see the famous snake boats of Kerala. At night moor in the Vembanad Lake and enjoy living in the Houseboat.

Day 11 Travel from Alleppey to Mararikulum (14 kms)

After breakfast move to Mararikulum. The name of Mararikulum has been generated from the Malyalam name of fish, called Marari. Known for the multiple untouched, neat and clean beaches Mararikulum is a paradise for the beach lovers. The beaches are great for sunbathing, swimming and other activities by the beach. There are a number of beaches in Mararikulum named Marari, Varkala, Bekal, etc. There are a number of premium resorts by the side of the beaches in Mararikulum for you to stay. Visit the St. Andrew’s Basilica Church which is a popular church in Mararikulum.

Day 12 Travel from Mararikulum to Kochi (48 kms)

From Mararikulum, you will reach Kochi today where you are free to explore the places of your choice and taste the vast array of South Indian delicacies. Enjoy exploring the city of Kochi and relax in the hotel at night.

Day 13 Travel from Kochi to Mumbai (1539 kms)

After a leisurely morning pack your bags and board the flight to Mumbai. Spend the remaining time of the day relaxing or exploring this beautiful city on your own. You will find a number or astonishing lounges and restaurants in Mumbai which remains open during the night also. One of them is the Leopold Café where you will have an opportunity to meet different people from all around the world and relish a variety of delicious cuisines as well.

Day 14 Departure

On the day fourteenth your departure is scheduled from the Mumbai Airport. You will be duly taken to the Airport to board your flight for onwards journey. Vacations & Journeys representative will be there to help you with checking in and boarding the flight.
